Job Description
Under direct supervision of the office manager and physicians, this position involves performing cardiac stress technical duties and medical assistant duties. Responsibilities include responding to patients, visitors, and fellow team members in a pleasant, helpful, and professional manner; performing delegated medical tasks; assisting providers and nursing staff with patient care; and demonstrating leadership through collaboration, teamwork, communication, accountability, customer service, and advanced knowledge of clinical skills.
- Perform technical duties including EKGs, rhythm strips, stress testing, and manual blood pressures.
- Prepare patients for testing.
- Obtain vital signs.
- Perform/assist the provider with cardiac diagnostic studies (stress tests, EKGs, monitors, etc).
- Monitor patients during tests, including blood pressure, heart rate, and EKG.
- Review and discuss results with the provider.
- Act as a medical assistant for assigned provider, providing clinical support.
- Assume responsibility for reading and interpreting holter/event monitors as needed.
Work Experience & Education
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- An electrocardiographic and arrhythmia course is required.
- BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
- One year of experience in electrocardiography is required.
- Experience in all components of non-invasive cardiac testing is preferred.

Working Conditions

- Potential for exposure to nuclear radiation, requiring adherence to safety policies.
- Potential for minimal exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials, requiring adherence to standard precautions and safe handling practices.
- Day shift, including weekends and holidays as necessary.
- Frequent interruptions and occasional crisis situations.
- Medium exposure risk, requiring annual respirator mask fitting.
- Standing, walking, reaching, stretching, bending throughout most of the work day (5-7 hours per day).
- Occasional pushing, pulling.
- Lifting patients (up to 250 pounds) and pushing wheelchairs (1-2 hours per day) in accordance with Safe Patient Lifting policy.
- Visual acuity required for reading computer monitors and patient charts.
- Acute hearing for hearing blood pressures and receiving/delivering accurate information.

- Sign-on bonus of $2,500 is offered with a one-year work commitment.
- The position is classified as medium exposure risk and requires an annual respirator mask fitting.
