Responsibilities

• Implements a comprehensive plan of care for the cardiology patient/family.
• Teaches the patient/family about all aspects of congenital heart disease such as anatomy/physiology, medications, blood work, activities, and follow‑up.
• Communicates the medical plan and related nursing care implementations to the PCP and other medical resources involved in the patient's care.
• Monitors outpatient lab work and reports findings to the cardiologist as needed.
• Authorizes prescription refills under provider supervision.
• Provides outpatient cardiology clinic nursing coverage.
• Reviews patient chart to assure outpatient testing is correct and appropriate.
