Job Summary
An all-service VA Medical Center in an all-season recreational getaway! Cardiologist needed in Augusta, Maine. Must-haves include an unrestricted state medical license, qualified to diagnose, treat, and manage patients according to standard, usual, and acceptable methods and techniques. B/C or B/E in Cardiology preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provides cardiology care for inpatients and outpatients at VA Maine Health Care System.
- Performs outpatient examinations.
- Performs Compensation and Pension exams and/or reviews.
- Provides consultation service related to cardiology to the medical staff.
- Admits and manages inpatients.
- Interprets echocardiograms (including stress echos, dobutamine echos and transesophageal echocardiograms).
- Interprets holter monitor studies and event recorder studies.
- Interprets electrocardiograms (EKGs).
- Performs Nuclear Cardiology (certification in Nuclear Cardiology is preferred).
- Serves on Medical Staff Committees.
- Attends Medical Service staff meetings and meetings of the Medical/Dental staff.
- Ensures communication with the incoming evening Medical Officer of the Day regarding patient care issues.
- Completes medical records using the electronic medical record system and follows hospital documentation requirements.
- Completes mandatory training.
Physical Requirements
This position requires a full range of physical activity, including lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching above the shoulder, use of fingers and both hands, walking, standing, repeated bending, ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Qualifications Required
- Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- B/E or B/C in Internal Medicine, and, B/E or B/C in the Cardiology subspecialty.
