Corewell Health Wayne Hospital opened its doors to western Wayne communities in 1957. This full-service hospital is the only hospital in the Wayne, Westland, Garden City, Canton, Inkster and Romulus area verified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level III Trauma Center. The hospital has a longstanding partnership with Detroit Metropolitan Airport and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to handle a wide variety of health and communicable disease concerns including mass trauma and emergency patients.

About the role

Perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations consisting of:

  • Two-dimensional imaging, spectral and color flow Doppler, m-mode
  • Trans esophageal, exercise and pharmacologic echocardiograms
  • Saline and left ventricular opacification studies on adult patients

Instruction of medical personnel in technical performance, clinical application, and cardiac pathology as it pertains to cardiac ultrasound. May act as a mentor/preceptor for other Ultrasonographers and/or students.

This is a Cardiac Ultrasound position; only RDCS, ACS, or RCS credentials are required.

Requirements

  • Required associate's degree or equivalent
  • Graduate of Diagnostic Ultrasound Program or equivalent
  • Minimal experience as gained at student level
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA American Heart Association or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) – ARC American Red Cross (upon hire)
  • One of the following credentials (1 year required):
    • CRT-Sonographer (S) – ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (EXCLUDE Cardiac)
    • CRT-Breast Sonographer (BS) – ARDMS (EXCLUDES Cardiac, General, Vascular)
    • CRT-Abdomen (AB) – ARDMS (EXCLUDES Cardiac, Vascular)
    • CRT-Ob/Gyn (OB) – ARDMS (EXCLUDES Cardiac, Vascular)
    • CRT-Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, Registered (RDCS) – ARDMS (Cardiac)
    • CRT-Cardiac Sonographer, Registered (RCS) – Cardiac
  • CRT-Vascular Technologist (VT) – ARDMS (within 1 year of hire required for Vascular Department)

  • Days Worked: Monday to Friday
  • Weekend Frequency: Variable weekends
