About the role
Cardiac Special Procedures Technician II in the EP Lab at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital. This role involves assisting cardiologists in invasive cardiovascular procedures, performing specialized and complex invasive and non-invasive cardiovascular procedures, and monitoring patients during these procedures.
Schedule
- Day Shift
- Three 12-hour shifts (07:00-19:00)
- No holidays, weekends, or call requirements
Responsibilities
- Functions as part of the cardiovascular lab team, assisting the cardiologist and team leader in routine cardiac diagnostic procedures and minor surgical procedures.
- Preps for incoming patients and compiles/summarizes patient histories from physician letters and notes.
- Assists in monitoring the patient’s condition during invasive cardiac procedures and communicates deteriorating conditions to the team leader.
- Scrubs for procedures/surgery and closely assists the cardiologist with invasive cardiovascular procedures, including manipulation of cardiac catheter and guide wire using aseptic technique.
- Receives requests and schedules patients for specialized diagnostic procedures, arranges patient transport, and relays patient reports to nursing staff.
- Attends Cath Interventional Meetings, Department/Staff meetings, and/or Grand Rounds in line with ACC/SCAI requirements.
- Provides accurate angiographic image identification, processes cine-angiographic images, and ensures appropriate image quality control.
- Delivers images to appropriate locations for interpretation and results.
- Maintains certification, meets CEU requirements, and stays current on cardiovascular scope. Cross-training between Cath/EP labs may be required.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient, physician, employee, and visitor information.

Requirements
- Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education in Cardiovascular Technology or related field required.
- RCIS/RCES (CCI) or CI (ARRT) certification preferred.
- BLS/ACLS Required.
- Ability to recognize normal and abnormal ECG rhythms, ischemia, and infarction patterns.
- Understanding of basic concepts in aseptic technique.
- Mechanical/mathematical aptitude for calibration and operation of equipment.
- Ability to interpret medical technology.
- Knowledge of potential radiation hazards and appropriate safety practices and procedures.
- Manual dexterity to assist during invasive procedures.
- Analytical and clinical ability to monitor patient condition during cardiac procedures.
