Cardiac Sonographer, Part-Time, Days

About the role

Performs all echocardiography lab exams. Provides quality patient care using lab physiological and ultrasound equipment. Assists with clinical rotations in both in-patient and out-patient settings as the schedule dictates and participates in after hours and on-call services. Located at Oconee Medical Campus, Oconee Memorial Hospital, Echocardiography department.

Responsibilities

• Performs most modalities of echocardiography (i.e. 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler, and color flow Doppler imaging, as well as assists with qualified physician with TEE procedures).
• Performs lab procedures using independent judgement during the exam to accurately differentiate between normal and abnormal findings.
• Exams must follow IAC approved scanning protocol and the Smart Protocols must be utilized when possible.
• Reviews images and paperwork to ensure quality exams are complete, thorough and prepared for review by reading physicians.
• Rotates to multiple lab locations as scheduled and required by the IAC.
• Participates in the daily workflow by observing the sonographer worklist to ensure timely patient care.
• Schedules exams through the transport system if applicable.
• Participates in the Lab after hours, on-call, weekend and holiday schedules.
• Operates all lab testing equipment and software packages including but not limited to ultrasound and physiological equipment, EMR and Structured Reporting and PACS.
• Reports any equipment issues to the appropriate personnel and removes equipment from service.
• Cleans the equipment and work areas daily and stocks rooms with supplies and linen.
