Banner Gateway Medical Center offers 286 private rooms, 13 operating suites, a 46-bed emergency department, and shares a campus with the Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. Key specialties include oncology, obstetrics, bariatric surgery, emergency, and other services supporting the community's needs. The Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center provides world-class oncology care, including inpatient and outpatient services, with advanced capabilities such as five linear accelerator vaults, a brachytherapy vault, PET/CT scan, over 70 infusion bays, and a cryopreservation lab.

Responsibilities

• Performs procedures by following and verifying referring providers’ orders, using independent judgment and learned methodologies.
• Oversees Heart Clinic echocardiographic services, ensuring quality of performance and adherence to scanning protocols and quality measures (ASE or IAC guidelines).
• Educates patients and families regarding procedures and treatments.
• Demonstrates professional behavior and fosters teamwork to achieve quality patient outcomes.
• Performs high-quality imaging and presents findings for timely interpretation, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Provides preliminary clinical findings to supervising physicians, cardiologists, or cardiac surgeons.
• Performs prescribed invasive/interventional procedures in accordance with established policies.
• Evaluates equipment quality control and troubleshoots issues, notifying appropriate personnel to maintain performance.
• Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors, adhering to safety policies.
• Ensures ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities, including confidentiality of work information.
• Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies to ensure uninterrupted services.
• Performs high-level disinfecting in accordance with manufacturers' and regulatory policies.
• Acts as a clinical and technical expert in Cardiac Sonographic Imaging for the Cardiology or Cardiovascular department.
• May train new staff and students in sonographic techniques, assess student competency, and provide feedback.
• May provide echocardiographic-related education to Banner Health staff and cardiac sonography students.
• Ensures echocardiography functions comply with professional scope of practice, accreditation, and regulatory standards (Joint Commission, Title 22).
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Allied Health Cardiovascular program.
• National certification from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Cardiac Sonographer. Uncertified new hires who are registry-eligible must obtain certification within 12 months of hire.
• BLS certification required (must be uploaded into the application).
• One to two years of clinical experience.
• Effective communication skills, human relations skills, and the ability to analyze data and solve problems.
• Must live within 30 minutes of the facility due to call requirements (night and weekend call).

Preferred Qualifications

• Adult Echo experience preferred.
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Schedule

Full-time, 3 x 10-hour shifts. Rotating weekends after orientation.
