Job Duties & Essential Functions
- Performs echocardiograms and Vascular Ultrasound in accordance with established practices and procedures.
- Applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology, positioning and imaging techniques to optimize the quality of ultrasound images.
- Safely performs all patient care responsibilities in accordance with professional standards and the organization’s policies and procedures.
- Positions patient on examination table for optimum testing procedure and conditions.
- Explains procedure in easy-to-understand terms based on professional knowledge to relieve patient of pre-testing anxiety.
- Sets-up equipment to administer the particular procedure in a timely fashion.
- Effectively determine and set priorities to meet patient needs.
- Provide proper and accurate documentation of patient care in the patient medical record.
- Ensures that patients receive timely and appropriate care.
- Maintains infection control precautions and identifies potential infection control problems.
- Participate in Quality Assurance activities within the Department.
- Participates in annual recertification training, compliance training, and HIPAA training, as well as all other mandatory in-service programs.
- Conforms to policies and regulations governing patient rights and confidentiality of information.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- A High School Diploma.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- Associates Degree with completion of ultrasound program (preferred).
- 2 years related experience in an Outpatient Practice setting (preferred).
