Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Follows established hospital policy regarding patient safety measures.
- Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
- Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
- Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and maintains adequate supplies.
- Participates in the maintenance of laboratory accreditation.
- Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
Education
- Graduate of a Cardiac\ Vascular Sonographer program required.
- Eligible to sit for the RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) and/or RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International equivalent per the credentialing organization’s requirements.
Work Experience
- One year experience in Adult Cardiac or Vascular sonography required.
Certification/License
- RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) and/or RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
- Must be registered in Echocardiography or Vascular Ultrasound within 18 months of hire.
- BLS through the American Heart Association.
Mental/Physical Requirements
- Requires frequent standing for long periods of time, walking, and lifting up to 150lbs.
- Involves pushing, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
- Considerable mental concentration for long periods of time.
Working Conditions
- Constant exposure to infectious disease and other hazardous conditions.
