Responsibilities
- Performs echocardiograms, stress echo’s and TEEs, independently.
- Identifies each patient and reviews each patient’s requisitions in Epic for consistency of exam ordered with clinical diagnosis and all demographic information.
- Records pertinent data i.e. medical history and preliminary findings for Cardiologists review in EPIC and MERGE.
- Reviews each examination for technical accuracy and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
- Captures and coordinates all activities performed in Cardiology department.
- Demonstrates the ability to cope with and manage change.
- Maintains equipment and scan areas in proper working condition.
- Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisor and cardiologists.
- Performs clerical and transporter responsibilities as needed.
- Establishes and maintains a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all departmental staff, hospital staff, patients, families and hospital visitors.
- Provides patient education to patient and/or family.
- Demonstrates the ability to organize patient care and set priorities to ensure the completion of work assignments.
- Able to be on call for after hour studies as needed.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program and/or Certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Registered in Echocardiography.
- Current CPR.
- Ability to deal efficiently and courteously with all hospital personnel.
- Verbal and written skills necessary to facilitate communication with a variety of personnel.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Proficient in Transthoracic Echocardiography and in three of the following areas of imaging or operational support: Stress Echo, IR/OR Echocardiography, Clinical Instructor for Echocardiography Program under contracted Clinical Affiliation Agreement, Independent oversight and management of an ongoing operational duty.
Qualifications
