About the Role

The Cardiac Technician plays a vital role in delivering high-quality ambulatory cardiac monitoring services by reviewing, analyzing, and processing cardiac studies with accuracy and attention to detail. This position is responsible for identifying and documenting cardiac rhythms, arrhythmias, and clinically significant events, preparing preliminary reports for physician interpretation, and escalating urgent findings in accordance with established clinical protocols. Cardiac Technicians provide patient support by assisting with monitor use, troubleshooting device issues, and ensuring successful study completion while maintaining excellent customer service. They perform patient monitoring duties in telemetry areas and inform physicians of any arrhythmias or changes in patient's rate or rhythm.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient's ECG data and related algorithm findings for clinical accuracy and completeness.
  • Effectively communicate ECG abnormalities by notifying physicians as required according to physician notification protocol.
  • Perform 100% of the quality assurance behind the final report delivered to the physician, and provide report format modifications and additions as requested.
  • Maintain compliance with job-specific proficiency requirements, including CCT certification.
  • Answer calls for assistance from patients and inquiries concerning patients from physicians.
  • Continuously develop clinical knowledge, particularly ECG rhythm interpretation skills.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required; an associate degree (AA) or two years of college coursework preferred.
  • Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) required.
  • A minimum of 3-5+ years of experience as a telemetry/monitor technician or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills

  • Proficient in MS Internet Explorer, Excel, and various MS Office programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent phone manner.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Organizational skills, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task.
  • Awareness of internal and external customer needs.
  • Ability to understand the importance of a “team” concept.

Physical Demands

  • Must be flexible in terms of working hours to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the telephone.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer as needed.

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $22.40 - $33.60 USD hourly.
