Sign-on bonus: $5,000. Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. CIED experience required.
About the role
The Cardiac Device Specialist team member provides comprehensive care based on the principles of growth and development across the life span of patients served in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Rhythm Management. Provision of care follows HonorHealth Patient Care Policies and unit-specific Department Operating Policies. Support for Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED) is provided under the direction of a Device RN Manager or Provider and the Practice Manager.
Responsibilities
- Perform in-office evaluations of CIEDs, including pacing and sensing thresholds, analysis and interpretation of Intracardiac Electrograms (IEGM), troubleshooting, and programming of devices from Abbott (formerly St. Jude Medical), Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Sorin, and Biotronik using manufacturers’ proprietary programmers, following protocol and good clinical practice.
- Manage daily remote monitoring alerts; use protocols and clinical judgment to determine proper notification and follow-up based on established criteria.
- Process and document remote transmissions according to protocol; ensure appropriate follow-up scheduling.
- Report abnormalities to the EP provider in a timely manner; notify patients of abnormal results and secure appropriate follow-up.
- Escalate interpretations outside the scope of expertise to the Device Lead Technician, Device Nurse Manager, or EP Provider.
- Demonstrate knowledge of CIED function for St. Jude, Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Sorin, and Biotronik devices.
- Triage patient calls related to device questions or problems; communicate with EP provider as needed.
- Submit appropriate billing codes for device evaluations.
- Communicate advisory and recall information to patients, including necessary follow-up and alerts, under the advice of the EP physician.
- Travel to satellite clinics as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1 year of cardiac device management experience in in-office evaluations and remote monitoring.
- 1 year minimum experience with CIED industry or outpatient device clinic.
- Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Completion of a 12-Lead EKG class.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years as an inpatient monitor technician.
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant.
- International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners Certification (IBHRE); willingness to take the exam within 2 years.
