What You Will Do (Administrative)

  • Partner with leadership to identify staffing needs
  • Aid in interviewing advanced practice providers and clinical staff
  • Lead onboarding/training initiatives
  • Support service line growth by fostering relationships with referring physicians
  • Participate in outreach efforts
  • Contribute to strategic planning for expanding surgical volumes and new service offerings
  • Oversee day-to-day coordination of surgical schedules
  • Staff coverage
  • Implement process improvements to maximize OR efficiency
  • Optimize patient flow
  • Lead initiatives focused on clinical outcomes

What You Will Do (Clinical)

  • Function as a Surgical First Assistant in the Operating Room for cardiac procedures
  • Position and drape patients under the direction of the surgeon
  • Perform Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH)
  • Conduct comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physicals
  • Round on post-op patients in ICU and step-down units
  • Participate in a rotating schedule for weekend and night CVOR coverage

What You Need

  • 10+ years of experience functioning as a surgical first assist in cardiac surgery
  • Experience in taking independent call
  • 3+ years of leadership experience as a Lead APP, supervisor, or in a managerial role within a surgical service line (preferred)
  • Current Texas State License Board certification by the NCCPA (for PAs) or relevant board (for NPs)
  • Active BLS and ACLS
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strategic mindset and ability to collaborate across departments
