What You Will Do (Administrative)

  • Partner with leadership to identify staffing needs, assist in interviewing advanced practice providers and clinical staff, and lead onboarding/training initiatives to ensure smooth integration into the surgical team.
  • Support service line growth by fostering relationships with referring physicians, participating in outreach efforts, and contributing to strategic planning for expanding surgical volumes and new service offerings.
  • Oversee day-to-day coordination of surgical schedules, staffing coverage, and resource allocation; implement process improvements to maximize OR efficiency and optimize patient flow.
  • Lead initiatives focused on clinical outcomes, compliance, and patient satisfaction.

What You Will Do (Clinical)

  • Function as a Surgical First Assistant in the Operating Room for cardiac procedures.
  • Position and drape patients under the direction of the surgeon.
  • Perform Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH).
  • Conduct comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physicals.
  • Round on post-op patients in ICU and step-down units.
  • Participate in a rotating schedule for weekend and night CVOR coverage.

What You Will Need

  • 10+ years of experience functioning as a surgical first assist in cardiac surgery.
  • Experience in taking independent call.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience as a Lead APP, supervisor, or in a managerial role within a surgical service line (preferred).
  • Current TN State License Board certification by the NCCPA (for PAs) or relevant board (for NPs).
  • Active BLS and ACLS.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A strategic mindset and ability to collaborate across departments.
