About the role

The job involves trimming and removing trees using various tools and equipment. It also includes tasks such as cutting branches, dropping or lowering them to the ground, felling trees, cutting and splitting logs, spraying stumps, loading/unloading trucks, and servicing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Climb with a ladder, safety belt, climbing line, powered trimmer lift truck, or work from the ground using various saws, pruners, etc.
  • Cut branches or trunk sections and drop or lower them to the ground with lines.
  • Use wedges, sledges, and chain saws in felling trees or trimmed trunks and in cutting and splitting logs into manageable pieces.
  • Spray stumps and brush with hand-spraying equipment to prevent further growth.
  • Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, debris, and feed brush into a woodchipper.
  • Repair slight damage to lawns, fences, and walks caused by tree trimming.
  • Service gasoline, air, hand-powered tools, and other equipment.
  • Relay hand-signals, direct traffic, drive, and operate trucks and equipment, as assigned, and keep trucks and work area clear and orderly.
  • Train new employees.
  • Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
  • Cooperate with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways.
  • Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc. to protect employees and the public.
  • Trained to perform tree and bucket rescue.
  • Inspect and maintain tools, trucks, and other work equipment.
  • Communicate and handle conflict professionally.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods.
  • Able to wear necessary PPE as per task assigned.
  • Able to safely drive an approved company vehicle.
  • Able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments.
  • Able to traverse various terrains.
  • Write, read, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
  • Able to work with hands above head for extended periods.
  • Able to walk, climb, and work from ladders, or at various heights, on uneven and slippery surfaces, performing mentally/physically demanding work under unfavorable weather conditions while handling equipment or material.
  • Have no fear of heights.
  • Able to lift, move, and maneuver heavy weights up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis, but up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • Endurance is necessary to perform these duties throughout a standard eight or ten-hour day.
  • Able to work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, weekends, etc.
  • Subject to call-out work.
  • Sufficient eyesight to judge distances and coordination to get and use the appropriate equipment and tools.
  • Able to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
  • Good hand-to-eye coordination.
  • Able to communicate and handle conflict professionally.

Qualifications

  • No experience is required.
  • Pre-Screen: Employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

Pay

The pay rate is $36.05-$44.22 per hour.

Schedule

Full-time work with 4, 10-hour days allowing for a 3-day weekend. Overtime opportunities (when available).
