About the role
This analyst position is designed to develop future portfolio leaders at Freddie Mac by providing real-world training experiences with the goal of learning the full mortgage capital markets life cycle while also gaining desk-specific knowledge. The program offers analysts the opportunity to work across a broad spectrum of Freddie Mac’s capital markets desks, learning from and being mentored by best-in-class professionals.
Analysts will complete up to four six-month rotations, with at least one rotation in each of the following areas:
- Front-End: Gain knowledge of how Freddie Mac prices, including upfront loan pricing, pool securitization, and unsecured debt funding through rotations in Single-Family Pricing, Cash Window, or Treasury/Liquidity Investments.
- Non-Credit Risk: Understand Freddie Mac’s retained risks on desks such as Asset Liability Management, Retained Portfolio Investments, or Counterparty Risk Management.
- Credit Risk: Learn how Freddie Mac manages its credit risk through securitized products-related desks, including STACR, ACIS, Servicing Capital Markets, and Loan Portfolio Management & Structuring.
At the conclusion of the rotation period, analysts are encouraged to apply for a full-time position within the company.
Responsibilities
In this position, you will support portfolio manager activities by analyzing data, working on projects, or addressing desk-specific needs to improve functionality or produce analyses that help desks make more informed decisions. You will:
- Work as part of a high-performing team, building analytical and interpersonal communication skills.
- Gain diverse perspectives by working across desks, including both trading and deal-based desks.
- Develop expertise in fixed income valuation, financial transaction analysis, and the U.S. economy/fixed income markets.
- Build knowledge of the primary and secondary mortgage financial system.
- Enhance quantitative abilities (e.g., Advanced Excel, SQL, SAS, Python, R).
- Develop professional networking skills within the company and industry.
- Receive mentorship to guide your career and become part of a social community of analysts.
Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree, preferably in Economics, Finance, Business, Statistics, Engineering, and/or Math.
- Availability to begin full-time employment in January 2027 or June 2027, dependent on graduation date (graduating in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027).
- Some background and demonstrable interest in Finance, especially Capital Markets.

Pay
This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $63,000 - $95,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors, including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity, and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
