About the Role

The Capacity Management Coordinator is responsible for patient flow within the hospital and to and from outside sources. This position drives patient throughput by facilitating bed placement for patients designated for admission, discharge, and transfer. They mitigate barriers to discharge by working with nursing staff, case management, and support departments. The Coordinator sets capacity targets based on staffing, anticipated boarders, and projected bed needs. They collect clinical information relative to a transfer request and facilitate the transfer by matching the patient’s clinical needs to the facility with bed capacity and service capability. The position collaborates with multiple departments within each hospital to foster relationships with referring facilities, physicians, and hospital staff. It works closely with each facility to identify, trend, and report barriers to patient throughput.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • RN: Education required, graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Experience preferred: Five years of clinical experience and at least one year of experience in Emergency Services, Case Management, Pre-Hospital, Flight Nursing, or a Transfer Center.
  • RRT: Education required, graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy. Experience preferred: Five years of critical care experience as a Respiratory Therapist. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Required: Respiratory Care Practitioner License active in the state of Missouri. Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days. Required: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care. Preferred: RRT-ACCS (Adult Critical Care Specialist) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care. Medic: Education required, high school diploma or equivalent. Experience preferred: Five years of clinical experience and at least one year of experience in Emergency Services, Case Management, Pre-Hospital, Flight Nursing, or a Transfer Center. Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication and multitasking. Excellent problem-solving abilities and critical thinking. Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Ability to efficiently use the electronic medical record. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to work with multiple people while meeting numerous requests and deadlines. Goal oriented with initiative and potentials for self-development. Maintains organizational and priority setting skills. Delegates appropriately to other team members. Excellent telephone skills. LPN: Education required, graduate of an accredited practical nursing program. Experience preferred: Five years of clinical experience and at least one year of experience in Emergency Services, Case Management, Pre-Hospital, Flight Nursing, or a Transfer Center. Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication and multitasking. Excellent problem-solving abilities and critical thinking. Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Ability to efficiently use the electronic medical record. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to work with multiple people while meeting numerous requests and deadlines. Goal oriented with initiative and potentials for self-development. Maintains organizational and priority setting skills. Delegates appropriately to other team members. Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Excellent telephone skills.

Qualifications

  • RN: RN License active in the state of Missouri. BLS must be obtained within 90 days.
  • RRT: Required: Respiratory Care Practitioner License active in the state of Missouri. Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days. Required: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care. Preferred: RRT-ACCS (Adult Critical Care Specialist) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Medic: Current Missouri licensure as EMT-P. BLS must be obtained within 90 days.
  • LPN: LPN License active in the state of Missouri.
