About the role

French Broad Adventures is a family-oriented small business that trains thousands of adventure guides in Western North Carolina. This position offers the chance to lead guests through wilderness areas and remote river canyons, combining experience with training.

Season

The season runs from March 1 to November 1, with peak activity from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Part-time and full-time seasonal positions are available.

Responsibilities

- Lead guests through wilderness areas and remote river canyons. - Demonstrate high-quality customer service and safety standards. - Work well under pressure. - Have a positive attitude. - Carry 15-30 lbs. - Swim and be comfortable in wet conditions for prolonged periods. - Attend periodic trainings and meetings. - Work well as part of a team. - Share outdoor activities with guests. - Show good judgment and decision-making. - Be comfortable speaking to groups.

Requirements

- Be at least 18 years old. - Maintain a current First Aid/Basic CPR/AED certification (provided by FBA). - Complete FBA Guide training and check-out process. - Demonstrate excellent customer service skills. - Physical and emotional resilience. - Ability to take direction. - Risk management strategies. - Work weekends and holidays.
