Campus Vote Fellow - WIU

Citizen Action Campus Vote Fellow Citizen Action/Illinois is a statewide progressive policy and political coalition. Building on 25 years of experience, Citizen Action/Illinois has been a key player in the fight for social and economic justice at the state and national levels. We are looking to hire a team of Campus Vote Fellows at Western Illinois University. Campus Vote Fellows will be part of an initiative on WIU’s campus in IL’s 17th congressional district to increase voter turnout. Fellows will be critical in organizing college students using the following tactics: Pledge to Vote: Ask people to commit to vote in November and collect their information so we can remind them about their pledge closer to Election Day. Vote Boosting: Tabling in high-traffic areas, including outside polling locations during the voting period, asking voters to text their friends to also vote. Learn more about these tactics here: https://www.voterev.org/tactics Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:Identifying high-traffic locations and events for engaging votersOrganizing and planning tabling events to increase awareness about voting and get pledges to voteTracking and reporting information, including how many people were engaged and completed actions during each shiftInforming college students about the importance of voting and providing information related to the voting processSending reminders about voting through a texting platform Experience and Qualifications:Able to maintain a high level of energy and positive attitudeStrong communication skillsStrong organizational skillsCommitment to progressive valuesProactive mindset Hours: Fellows will attend a training session on October 13thFellows will work 10-15 hours a weekFellows are committed to attending weekly meetings Salary: This is a part-time position, Fellows will be paid $20 an hour.
