Responsibilities

  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of campus buildings, restrooms, classrooms, offices, athletic facilities, and outdoor spaces.
  • Empty trash, recycling, and compost throughout campus.
  • Set up, break down, and reset spaces for school and community events, including moving tables, chairs, staging, and equipment for over 200 events annually.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks, including painting touch-ups, drywall patching, replacing ceiling tiles, changing batteries in electronic door locks, installing paper towel and toilet paper dispensers, unclogging drains, and other minor repairs.
  • Complete work orders efficiently with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Move furniture, desks, appliances, and equipment throughout campus, including loading and unloading cargo vans for transport between campuses.
  • Operate custodial equipment and, with training, campus vehicles and equipment including golf carts, cargo vans, Toolcat, Bobcat/skid-steer, aerial lifts, and other equipment.
  • Safely use ladders, extension ladders, and lifts while performing maintenance and event work.
  • Avoid outdoor maintenance and seasonal work in all weather conditions.
  • Safeguard campus buildings by locking/unlocking doors, arming/disarming alarms, conducting evening patrols, checking gates, and securing rental houses as assigned.
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond to facility requests from staff, students, families, and visitors.
  • Work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and make sound decisions when supervisors are unavailable.
  • Be available to work evenings, weekends, overtime, and special events as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures, complete required training, and perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities & Events Manager or Director of Facilities.

Qualifications

  • Previous janitorial or general maintenance experience preferred.
  • Requires a reliable form of transportation.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under company insurance.
  • Must pass a physical exam due to job demands and equipment operation requirements.
  • Ability to safely operate campus vehicles and equipment after training

Pay

Pay Range: $20 - 24/hour, depending on experience

Schedule

This role is a full-time role with a schedule of Monday - Friday, 1:00pm - 9:30pm.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Work performed indoors and outdoors across campus.
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and stair climbing.
  • Regular use of ladders and custodial equipment.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Must be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Operation of golf carts, Bobcat equipment, and Lifts.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not supervise other employees.

Interpersonal Contact

  • This role requires daily contact with the facilities team and frequent contact with faculty, staff and students.
  • There is some contact with parents, trustees, alumni, and visitors.

Education and/or Experience
