Campus Substitute Teacher (Math) - High School (26-27)

Teach with Purpose: Our teachers are central to realizing both the academic and cultural visions of our schools. This involves daily lesson planning, intentional curriculum design, and regular data analysis to support all students in their learning and growth. Teachers also implement Social Emotional Learning lessons and Restorative Practices to foster a joyful, inclusive classroom community.

Support and Collaboration: Teachers work closely with the school’s Leadership Team, including their Instructional Coach, to ensure student success. This includes weekly meetings and ongoing feedback to refine instructional practices.

Teachers engage in continuous professional development to reflect on their own identities and experiences, and how these shape their roles as educators and leaders. As a community, we regularly analyze school systems, academics, culture, and data to assess our progress toward becoming an anti-racist organization and make necessary adjustments to meet the needs of our community.

Responsibilities

• Develop daily and long-term lesson plans using provided curriculum and resources to align with KIPP’s academic vision and goals.
• Analyze data regularly to identify student academic trends and inform instructional practices.
• Maintain a positive, warm, inclusive, rigorous, and engaging classroom environment that incorporates Restorative Practices and Social Emotional Learning.
• Implement culturally responsive classroom management strategies to create a safe environment for all students to learn and achieve.
• Communicate regularly with staff, students, families, and other key stakeholders to build strong partnerships.
• Attend and engage in weekly Professional Development and other Communities of Practice to continue growing as an educator.
• Update student records regularly, including attendance, grades, and behavior data.

Requirements

• Hold a B.A/B.S degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• Need to obtain an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit.
• Commitment to KIPP’s mission and vision.
• Commitment to being an anti-racist educator.
• Belief that all students can achieve at the highest academic levels.
• Strong content area knowledge.
• Ability to build relationships with students, families, and communities.
• Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues.
• Proficient knowledge of Google Suite applications (Google Classroom, Hangout, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.).
• Ability to learn and utilize instructional technology to support in-class and distance learning (e.g., Zoom, Nearpod).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as an educator teaching students with similar demographics to KIPP Public Schools Northern California’s student community.

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands

• Physical: Ability to navigate school and classroom settings, access and utilize technology, and occasionally lift/carry equipment (1-20 lbs). Physical agility to move in various positions, including kneeling, walking, pushing/pulling, squatting, twisting, turning, bending, stooping, and reaching overhead.
• Mental: Ability to manage stress from deadlines and normal work standards, analyze problems, work with interruptions, concentrate for long periods, read, calculate, perform routine math, and memorize/recall objects and people.
• Environmental: School and classroom environment subject to constant interruptions and distractions. Adherence to KIPP’s health and safety guidelines as outlined by the CDC, CDE, and public health agencies’ recommendations.

Pay

Stockton Campus Substitute Salary: $63,887.00
