Under the supervision of the Campus Store Manager or assignee, the Campus Store Clerk assists in the daily operations and goals of the campus store.
Responsibilities
- Support textbook distribution and returns for the CMC Learning Materials Program, assist customers with purchases, and distribute textbooks.
- Receive and remove textbooks and other merchandise from shipping cartons; return textbooks and merchandise as required while maintaining daily records.
- Sell merchandise, process cash, checks, and credit card charges.
- Prepare displays, relocate stock, price and shelve merchandise as needed.
- Maintain campus store stock inventory control records, identify low stock items for reorder, and items for elimination.
- Respond to telephone and walk-in inquiries regarding stock availability and other store activities.
- Duplicate materials and assist with routine clerical duties such as processing mail and deliveries.
- Assist with physical inventories, preparation of booklists, and buyback of used textbooks from students.
- Perform routine closing procedures including counting cash drawers and shutting down systems.
- Open or close the campus store according to established procedures.
- Adjust working hours to include evenings and/or weekends as required.
- Periodically clean retail fixtures to maintain a professional store image.
- Perform other related duties and maintain good working relationships with students, faculty, and the public.
- Perform all duties safely and efficiently with minimal supervision.
Requirements
- Education and experience sufficient for the position, such as a high school diploma/GED plus 1 year of related experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Knowledge of basic retail practices and campus store sales procedures.
- Ability to handle money responsibly and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions accurately.
- Working knowledge of procedures for registering and handling cash receipts.
- Familiarity with inventory processes and ability to record store transactions.
- Knowledge of proper lifting techniques and safe work habits.
- Ability to adjust working hours to include evenings and/or weekends.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, and negotiating skills.
- Proficiency with general office equipment including computers, calculators, and Point of Sale systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism.
- Ability to organize, prioritize work, and work effectively in a team.
- Commitment to working effectively with students, employees, and community members of all backgrounds.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.
- Must perform assigned duties within the State of Colorado and accurately report work location.
- Not eligible for visa sponsorship; must be authorized to work in the United States.
Working Conditions
- Constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving.
- Occasional handling of objects, pushing/pulling, and frequent reaching with hands/arms.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 lbs.
- Constant written and oral communication; occasional reasoning, analyzing, and performing calculations.
- Daily use of a computer and standard office equipment; occasional driving of a vehicle.
Pay
$19.87 per hour. CMC utilizes a wage progression compensation model that accounts for a candidate’s skill and experience. The hiring rate will be set commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications.

Schedule
Part-time position limited to 28 hours per week. CMC’s workweek runs from Saturday through Friday. Adjustment of hours involving evening and/or weekend work may be required.
