Campus Staff Minister I — UCF/Mid-Florida (Undergraduate Ministry)
for sections like About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. Use - for any list of duties/requirements/benefits, and
for prose. Do NOT repeat job title as heading. Do NOT put Job ID etc. Remove boilerplate (EEO etc). Include sections only when posting has real specific content.
We need to parse the posting.
Key content:
- Work Location: Florida (maybe location info)
- Job Type: Full time
- Description: InterVarsity mission, etc. Could be "About the role" or "About the position". We'll need to decide sections.
We have "Essential Commitments/Responsibilities" with subheadings: Spiritual Growth, Campus Leadership (with sub-sub: Visionary Guide, Structural Architect, Missional Developer), Organizational Collaboration, Ministry Partnership Development, Accomplish All Other Assigned Tasks.
We have "QUALIFICATIONS (common to all levels of CSM)" list.
We have "Work Environment/Physical Requirements" description.
We have "Pay Range: $40,476.00 - $53,952.00 per year" and then explanation about fundraising.
We have "Benefits" list.
We have EEO boilerplate to remove.
We also have "Work Location: Florida Job Type Full time" maybe we can include as a short
metadata.
We need to avoid sections with placeholder content. All sections we include must have real content.
Potential sections:
- About the role (maybe summarizing mission and role description). The posting includes a paragraph about InterVarsity calling and description of CSM. Could be "About the role". We'll put that as
.
- Responsibilities: we have essential commitments/responsibilities with bullet-like paragraphs. Could format as
- each major responsibility (Spiritual Growth, Campus Leadership, Organizational Collaboration, Ministry Partnership Development, Accomplish All Other Assigned Tasks). Within Campus Leadership we could break into subpoints but maybe keep as one li with sub-bullets? The instruction: Use
- for any list of duties/requirements/benefits. So we can nest lists? Probably okay but we can keep simple: each top-level responsibility as li, and inside we can have further
for subpoints. That's still using ul/li.
- Requirements: maybe combine Qualifications and Work Environment? Could have "Qualifications" section for education/skills, and "Work Environment" maybe as separate? But we have "Work Environment/Physical Requirements". Could be a section "Work Environment". However instruction says use headings for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). They gave examples but not strict list; we can use those headings if content matches. We have Qualifications content. We have Skills maybe included in Qualifications (strong interpersonal skills etc). Could combine.
We have Benefits content.
We have Pay content.
We have Schedule? Not explicitly given besides Full time. Could we make a Schedule section? The posting says Job Type Full time. That's schedule info. Could include Schedule section with "Full time (40 hours/week)". But we need to avoid placeholder like "not specified". It's specified: Full time. So we can include Schedule section.
We have Location maybe as metadata.
We need to avoid repeating job title as heading. Not needed.
We must not include boilerplate like EEO.
We need to preserve all substantive information; do not invent or summarize away detail. So we need to keep the details exactly as given, but we can rephrase? The instruction: "Preserve ALL substantive information; do NOT invent or summarize away detail." Means we should not omit details, but we can reformat. Likely we should keep the substance but can rewrite in our own words as long as we keep meaning. Safer to keep close to original but maybe shorten? But we must not summarize away detail; we can keep the same sentences.
Thus we need to output HTML with sections.
Let's draft:
Work Location: Florida. Job Type: Full time.
About the role
God has called InterVarsity to plant and to build witnessing communities of students and faculty who follow Jesus on college and university campuses. Through these groups, we believe ever‑increasing numbers of students and faculty from all ethnic groups and areas of the campus will be transformed by the Gospel. We expect to see campuses increasingly become places where people, ideas, and structures flourish to the glory of God. We confidently anticipate that our InterVarsity alumni will become change agents across the country and around the world. We pursue this calling by discerning and actively participating in what God is already doing on campus. This is the essence of being a Campus Staff Minister (CSM). We are looking for a Campus Staff Minister who can gather a thriving community of students in a campus environment full of competing options at UCF. This CSM should be able to engage UCF's diverse student body — across ethnicities and cultures, commuters and residential students, and a wide range of interests and backgrounds — building genuine connection wherever students are. UCF presents a distinct ministry challenge and opportunity: as one of the largest universities in the nation with more than 70,000 students, it offers an enormous mission field, but also a campus where students can easily go unnoticed and community can be hard to find. Because a large share of UCF's student body commutes rather than lives on campus, a CSM here can't rely on residential rhythms of dorm life to build community — they'll need to be creative about meeting students where they naturally gather, whether that's between classes, in the Student Union, or through online spaces. UCF's student population is also highly diverse across ethnicity, culture, and background, meaning an effective CSM will be able to connect across difference rather than defaulting to a single cultural mode of ministry. And because UCF hosts a crowded landscape of campus faith groups and ministries, this role calls for someone who can offer students something distinct and compelling enough to gather a community amid no shortage of other options for their time and attention.
Responsibilities
- Spiritual Growth
- Pursue maturity as a disciple of Jesus Christ so that life and work increasingly reflect a growing love for God, God’s Word, God’s people of every ethnicity and culture, and God’s purposes in the world.
- Pursue a vibrant relationship with the triune God through engagement with Scripture, prayer, and worship, both individually and in community.
- Develop self‑leadership (growing in self‑awareness, self‑management, relational integrity, and resiliency).
- Embrace Scriptural standards for behavior and attitudes.
- Campus Leadership
- Increase the number of witnessing communities, as well as the size, health, spiritual maturity, and campus‑wide influence of existing witnessing communities of students and faculty.
- Act as a Visionary Guide: communicate and model InterVarsity’s vision to see students and faculty transformed, campuses renewed, and world changers developed.
- Create a culture of humble dependence on God and bold expectation in God’s intention to start new witnessing communities throughout the campus and on new campuses.
- Model – in person and through programs – InterVarsity’s vision and Core Values, including a biblically‑defined commitment to engage every ethnic and social group on campus.
- Lead students and faculty – individually and collectively – through Scripture, prayer, teaching, and discipleship experiences, so that they articulate and align their ministry activities around this vision.
- Set annual goals through prayer, research and reflection with your teams (students, faculty, and staff) for qualitative and quantitative growth, including conversions and leadership development.
- Serve as a Structural Architect: create, develop, align, and leverage ministry plans, programs, teams, and structures to close the gap between current reality and the aspirational goals.
- Build leadership teams who trust and partner well with you and who demonstrate spiritual vitality, relational health, and mission alignment.
- Develop and execute plans to achieve annual goals, evaluating and modifying the plan as needed throughout the year.
- Increase momentum for the vision by aligning programs, structures, conferences, and teams around the goals.
- Mobilize students and faculty to engage their relational networks with the gospel and to start new missional communities.
- Under the direction of the Area Director, may supervise Ministry Interns and Campus Ministry Interns as delegated.
- Act as a Missional Developer: intentionally gather, invite, and develop diverse groups of students and faculty so that they not only encounter and follow Jesus as Savior and Lord but also advance the mission on campus as participants and leaders.
- Create ways for faculty and students to encounter and follow Jesus through Scripture, worship, prayer, mission experiences, conferences, etc.
- Equip students and faculty so that they think strategically about campus engagement and so that they proclaim – in word, deed, and power – the good news of Jesus, regularly inviting students and faculty to follow him as Savior and Lord.
- Disciple students and faculty by equipping them to hear the Word, respond actively, and debrief and interpret the experience so that they grow in Christlikeness, reflect our Core Values, and develop ministry skills.
- Invite, coach, and equip students and faculty to become increasingly effective participants and leaders, including starting new witnessing communities on campuses.
- Organizational Collaboration
- Partner with and respond positively to the direction and coaching of your supervisors and national leaders.
- Contribute to collaborative and productive team meetings and relationships.
- Affiliate chapters under your care and submit Graduating Student Forms in order to increase our partnership with current students and alumni.
- Use national ministry resources and tools, as requested, including recruiting and/or participating in local, regional, or national conferences as required.
- Complete reporting, planning and review requirements in a timely way so that you and your supervisors can assess and improve your work as a CSM.
- Comply with all InterVarsity policies and procedures.
- Ministry Partnership Development
- Develop a team of partners – churches and individuals (including alumni and community members) – who will resource the ministry financially, in prayer, or volunteer service that advances the mission.
- Raise 100% of the financial budget assigned by your supervisor.
- Communicate regularly with your ministry partners, nurturing the relationship through visits, phone calls, emails and regular prayer letters.
- Develop on‑going, long‑lasting partnership with alumni and volunteers.
- Comply with all Ministry Partnership Policies.
- Identify and invest in advocates who will build networks of volunteers and donors on InterVarsity’s behalf.
- Accomplish all other assigned tasks as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement (Doctrinal Basis and Purpose Statement).
- Abide by InterVarsity’s Code of Conduct.
- Believe and behave consonantly with InterVarsity’s Human Sexuality Theological Paper.
- Affirm and behave consonantly with InterVarsity’s “Women in Ministry Statement of Affirmation”.
- Bachelor’s degree required for CSMs assigned to a four‑year campus. A minimum of an Associate’s degree required for CSMs assigned to a two‑year campus or a community college.
