About the role
The job of Campus Security Officer UA is to support the instructional process by ensuring the safety and welfare of students during various activities. This includes monitoring student behavior, responding to emergencies, and collaborating with other school and district personnel.
Responsibilities
- Analyze activities potentially violating school policies or indicating criminal activity.
- Assist law enforcement personnel and provide information for incident resolution.
- Communicate safety procedures, security policies, and enforcement procedures to students, staff, and visitors.
- Escort students, staff, and visitors to ensure safety and maintain site security.
- Maintain a safe and positive learning environment by monitoring student behavior.
- Participate in unit meetings and workshops to stay informed about new procedures and upcoming events.
- Provide traffic and parking control during high peak times and events.
- Referral of incidents to appropriate personnel for follow-up.
- Respond to inquiries and situations requiring immediate attention.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Security or law enforcement experience preferred.
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License.
Qualifications
- Physical requirements include some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity.
- General job requirements include 5% sitting, 55% walking, and 40% standing.
Skills
- Operating standard office equipment and using pertinent software applications.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate records.
- Operating equipment using defined methods.
