Campus Security Officer
Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintain security and safety of people and property on campus by patrolling buildings, common areas, and parking lots.
- Watches for and reports irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contacts emergency responders, such as police, fire, and /or ambulance personnel, as necessary.
- Remains alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or security code violators; approaches suspicious persons and/or notifies police as appropriate.
- Provides escort services for visitors, students, staff, and faculty, as necessary; provides.
- Acts as a point of contact for assistance on campus related to auto accidents, lockouts, disabled vehicles, flat tires, and other routine information.
- Work cooperatively with maintenance and other college personnel.
- Closes campus facilities including security checks on interior and exterior doors.
- Provides monthly checks on emergency supplies, AEDs, emergency eye wash stations and showers, fire extinguishers and emergency lights in all buildings.
- Establishes a relationship and maintains open communication with local law enforcement personnel.
- Maintains a log of interventions and incidents, during assigned duty time.
- Completes incidents reports as required.
- Maintains active and timely communication with NICC administrative personnel regarding campus incidents and security issues.

Complexity / Scope of Work
CLERICAL / MANUAL: Work involves clerical tasks; following standardized procedures, techniques, or procedures; and carrying out practices according to standards set by a supervisor or employers. Perform clerical or manual tasks; Example: May copy, compile, maintain basic files systems or enter data, or compute data using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; or compare items against a standard; use or operate light equipment such as lawn mowers, floor buffers, pickup truck, van; or perform general maintenance/custodial duties. Follow instructions or work orders; or read routine sentences, instructions, regulations, or procedures. Communicate using routine sentences, complete routine job forms and incident reports, or communicate routine information regarding daily activities. Perform semi-skilled work involving some set procedures and frequent problem-solving; Requires frequent decision-making affecting co-workers or the general public; may be responsible for providing; information to those who depend on a service.
Qualifications
- Experience in law enforcement, security and emergency procedures, and safety plans and precautions required.
