About the role
The Security Officer provides security presence and assistance to faculty, staff, and Police Officers in promoting a safe and orderly school environment. They assist at athletic events, special events, and other assignments outside normal duty hours. Leadership and mentorship from the Police Officer is provided.
Responsibilities
- Assist in securing buildings and property
- Investigate disturbances and maintain order during special events
- Provide guidance to students to help them make good decisions
- Support Police Officer in emergency responses, providing first aid and alerting additional personnel as needed
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Associate's degree in criminal justice preferred
- Prior experience in a school environment or in security/policing
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, Etc.
- Council of Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) Armed Security Guard License-Phase IV within six months of hire
- Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License Class D or higher
- Pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Physical Requirements
- Physical strength and stamina to chase and subdue fleeing persons and rescue victims
- Ability to stand, stoop, sit, walk, lift, drag and pull at least 165 pounds
- Capable of operating and maintaining a squad vehicle and related tools and equipment
- Visual and aural acuity necessary to observe surroundings, identify persons, detect danger, read licenses and tags, understand conversations, and distinguish between sounds

Pay
Tulsa Public Schools' salary schedules provide career increment adjustments based on education/experience and/or years of creditable service. For more information, please review the Salary Schedule for the corresponding Salary Grade (H-10).
Schedule
Rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, including overtime as needed.
