Campus Security Officer - 3rd Shift, Alternate Weekends Only

About the Role

The Hill School is seeking a part-time Campus Security Officer for the 3rd Shift (11pm-7am), including weekends and occasional holidays. The shift schedule is every other weekend—Friday into Saturday and Saturday into Sunday. Additional shifts may be available as needed (PRN). This role ensures the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors by monitoring campus access, responding to emergencies, and performing routine patrols.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and controls access through the Gate House and campus buildings for faculty, staff, students, and approved vendors.
• Responds to emergency alarms, disturbances, and other situations; provides first aid if necessary and alerts appropriate authorities.
• Patrols campus grounds by vehicle and foot, locks/unlocks buildings, and reports potential safety hazards.
• Enforces campus policies and regulations related to conduct, safety, and security; acts promptly and notifies relevant parties for resolution.
• Conducts security patrols independently without direct supervision.
• Provides escort services and other basic public assistance as needed.
• Performs additional duties as assigned to support the institution’s mission.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver’s license.
• Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check (including fingerprint-based checks, reference checks, employment history, and educational background checks).
• Visual acuity, including distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
• Ability to walk extensively, including navigating hills and stairs without assistance.
• Physical ability to reach, crouch, crawl, balance, climb, and lift/move up to 50 lbs.
• Calm disposition in emergency situations.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer service skills with warmth, sensitivity, humor, and professionalism when interacting with colleagues, students, alumni, parents, and staff.
• Flexibility and a "service attitude" to meet departmental and school needs.
