Campus Recreation - Junior Graphic Designer
Position Summary
This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. After a period of time, the pool will expire and applicants will be notified. The Campus Recreation student junior graphic designer is responsible to assist the Marketing Graphic Designer and Marketing Coordinator with designing print and web graphics for all of the Campus Recreation program areas. Including flyers, posters, manuals, brochures, web banners and more, that effectively represent the mission, vision and goals of the department and program area. The position will be responsible for updating and adapting existing graphics as well as producing graphics from concept through production. This position will help prepare the student for a career in graphic design through hands-on experience, including communicating with clients from a variety of program areas, fulfilling project requirements, designing within printer specifications and meeting deadlines. It will also provide the student with design pieces for their portfolio. This position reports to the Marketing Coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Designing clear and engaging graphics for print (including fliers, posters, brochures, banners)
- Adapting print designs for web applications (including social media graphics, web banners and digital graphics for the CR & Davis Digital Signage)
- Following WSU branding standards
- Completing designs by assigned due dates
- Continued training through personalized training programs via LinkedIn Learning
- Providing a safe environment and safe activities for all participants (Leadership and Management)
- Providing care in emergency situations when necessary (Critical Thinking)
- Maintaining a professional, friendly, attentive presence
- Aiding in maintenance and cleanliness of all facilities
- Educating, observing and enforcing all facility rules in a friendly and helpful manner (Critical Thinking)
- Educating participants on benefits of fitness and wellness
- Maintaining current CPR and First Aid certifications
- Attending mandatory monthly meetings, orientations and staff development workshops (Responsibility and Accountability)
- Reading, understanding and abiding by all employee policies and procedures stated in the Campus Recreation student employee manual (Responsibility and Accountability)
- Providing excellent customer service that encourages a climate of mutual respect
- Being a team player with your Supervisor peers as well as other Campus Recreation employees and communicating in a positive, professional manner (Interpersonal Communication)
- Being knowledgeable of Campus Recreation programs and services so that you may serve as a positive, socially conscious advocate of Campus Recreation (Civic Engagement)

- Performing other duties as specified by the Marketing Coordinator and/or Campus Recreation Director and Associate Director
Qualifications
- Applicant must have creative design skills and demonstrable knowledge of composition design as well as a working knowledge of the Adobe Suite i.e. Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop.
- Student will be required to take publications to the copy center or printing services for print.
- The applicant must be outgoing and willing to help plan activities and events.
- Prefer applicants with awarded work-study status (please be prepared to provide documentation of work-study status).
