Campus Police Lieutenant

About the Role

The Police Lieutenant is responsible for directing all campus police activities and police work. Considerable independent judgment, initiative, and understanding must be exercised in interpreting orders, rules, and policy.

Responsibilities

• Direct campus police activities and police work
• Exercise independent judgment in interpreting orders, rules, and policies
• Supervise Campus Police Officers and Campus Police Security Officers

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Associates or Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice preferred
• Valid Driver’s license
• Certification with Mississippi Board of Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Training
• De-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days)
• Two years of experience related to described duties

Physical Demands

• Moderately active work involving sitting, moving about the office/facility, and traveling within the SRHS service area
• Exerting negligible force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects, including the human body
• Exposure to body fluids, sputum, and tissues with potential infectious disease hazards
• Repetitive motions (wrists, hands, fingers) while operating office equipment
• Ability to perceive sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction
• Close visual acuity and ability to adjust focus between computer monitors and printed materials
• Ability to remain active for extended periods without undue fatigue
• Flexibility to work assigned schedules, including off days, shifts, or weekends as needed
