About the Role
Neumann University is seeking a Campus Minister for Community & Belonging to foster an inclusive, welcoming environment and support student engagement through spiritual and community-building initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate community-building initiatives, accompany student leaders, and support interfaith engagement to connect students with Campus Ministry and the University.
- Provide pastoral care and spiritual support, fostering inclusion and belonging.
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence among students across campus.
- Develop and coordinate programs promoting community, hospitality, friendship, and meaningful student engagement.
- Coordinate Campus Ministry participation in New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, involvement fairs, and other University events.
- Develop outreach to first-year, transfer, commuter, international, graduate, and other students who may struggle to connect.
- Supervise and provide ongoing formation for Community Peer Ministers and other student leaders.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate students in Campus Ministry leadership roles.
- Assist student leaders in creating programs responsive to student needs and interests.
- Coordinate community meals, social gatherings, hospitality initiatives, small groups, and relationship-building opportunities.
- Create welcoming opportunities before and after Sunday Masses, prayer services, retreats, and major events.
- Support interfaith activities and promote respect among students of diverse religious traditions.
- Collaborate with Residence Life, Student Affairs, Athletics, Student Government, and academic departments to strengthen student engagement.
- Assist in planning retreats, reflections, service projects, immersion experiences, liturgical celebrations, and major programs.
- Provide pastoral support for students experiencing loneliness, grief, or transition, with appropriate referrals.
- Maintain and update Campus Ministry social media and student communications.
- Develop advertising and marketing materials to promote Campus Ministry programs.
- Maintain participation records, student contact lists, program calendars, and follow-up information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in theology/religious studies or a related field.
- Knowledge of Franciscan spirituality preferred.
- Knowledge of Catholic liturgy and ritual.
- Ability to collaborate, communicate effectively, and work as a team member.
- Experience in ministry with a diverse student population.
- Strong Catholic faith commitment.
- Ability to appreciate, support, and enhance interfaith relationships on campus.
- Understanding of, appreciation for, and congruence with the Catholic Franciscan mission of Neumann University.
