Position Summary
The Campus Director will be responsible for the discipline of students, supervision and mentoring of faculty, and the development of a positive school culture. The Director is fully responsible for implementing the Classical Curriculum, which centers on Charlotte Mason's philosophy and emphasizes a rich, generous curriculum while recognizing each child's unique needs.
Qualifications
- Education/Certification: Four-year degree from an accredited college or university (Master’s preferred)
- Teaching certificate or school administrator certificate (preferred)
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in an educational environment, 3+ years of experience working with administrative leadership, clients, or stakeholders, and/or education personnel related to school improvement, facilitation of learning, or related educational interests, 3+ years of experience in supervising a staff of 5 or more, 3+ years of experience in managing budgets
- Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Advanced knowledge of federal and state education laws, strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills, a clear understanding of student development and the classical approach, ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, the community, administrative staff, and regional directors, ability to communicate with all levels of students, their parents, teachers, the community, peers, administrative staff, superintendent, and home office staff, ability to interpret policy, procedures, and student data such as diagnostic test results, state assessments scoring, transcripts, and grade point averages, ability to speak in public on a frequent basis, able to cast a vision for the future of the school, able to explain what a classical education is, able to travel as necessary
Responsibilities and Duties
- Directly supervises employees in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
- Interviews, hires, and trains employees
- Plans, assigns, and directs work
- Applies for the performance of staff, rewards and disciplines employees according to the Classical Academy's policies and procedures, and addresses and resolves complaints and problems
- Advocates, nurtures, and sustains a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth
- Ensures management of the organization, operation, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment
- Collaborates with faculty and community members, responds to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizes community resources
- Acts with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner
- Understands, responds to, and influences the political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context of the assigned student population
- Develops and evaluates educational programs to ensure conformance to state and school board standards
- Develops and coordinates educational programs through meetings with staff, review of teachers' activities, and issuance of directives
