Camp Medical Specialist

The Boothbay Region YMCA, established over 65 years ago, is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all community members. Position Summary
This role supports the Boothbay Region YMCA's mission to strengthen the community. The position involves promoting healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development, collaborating with the Senior Program Director, and ensuring the highest level of medical care and customer service.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the Senior Program Director to promote healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development.
- Serves as a role model for other staff and participants.
- Collaborates with the Senior Program Director to provide the highest level of medical care while adhering to health safety procedures, licensing standards, HIPPA compliance, maintaining the YMCAs reputation, and providing the highest level of customer service.
- Partners with the Senior Program Director and staff to provide preventative screening, ongoing medical care, and emergency services to participants or staff while adhering to all standards.
- Performs screening checks (lice, temperature, etc.), reviews online camper medical forms, ensures all medications are kept in a locked cabinet or refrigerator with special medications secured in a double lock, distributes medication to campers/staff in accordance with standing orders of a physician, completes accident/incident forms and submits to Director, and ensures all health records are securely stored in accordance with HIPAA.
- Maintains health facilities and front office, including equipment and supplies, and takes inventory weekly.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with staff, participants, and community partners and connects them to the YMCA.
- Aids the Senior Program Director with staff and volunteers to ensure operations are safe and clean at all times, maintains an open line of communication during camp hours, and provides emergency care to campers/staff when needed.
- Recognizes signs of abuse or neglect and reports to supervisor and the appropriate authorities as a Mandated Reporter.
Non-Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs other tasks and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Physical Requirements: Regularly stands, walks, sits, talks, hears, uses hands and fingers to operate a standard computer keyboard or tablet, uses a computer, mouse, printer, and copier, administers first aid, speaks and hears using a telephone, lifts and/or moves up to 60 pounds, works at a community campus that serves all people, works at times that may be stressful and require ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and successfully cope with the pressures related to the position, the noise level can be all volumes.
- Experience: 5-7 years of experience in a related field.
- Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification required within 60 days of hire.
- Skills: Team player, with superb interpersonal skills, ability to work with co-workers and the public in a positive and friendly manner and resolve conflicts as needed, self-starter with the ability to multi-task, lead others, work independently, and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment, general computer skills with the ability to effectively learn and use new software.
- Education: High School degree or GED, or the equivalent experience.
