Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- To ensure the smooth operation of assigned cabin during daily activities, schedule and handle the direct care and supervision of campers and participants.
- Aid individuals served (ages 8 - 100) with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including but not limited to toileting, hygiene, feeding, cleaning.
- Work flexibly within a team that supports the needs of children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families.
- Encourage camper participation in all activities and help maintain equipment and areas of camp in safe operating conditions.
- Willing and able to lift, transfer and provide direct care to individuals whom we serve.
- Transport individuals served and other staff, as a driver or an aid to outings, field trips, appointments or in emergencies.
- Assist in medication administration and corresponding attendant paperwork, if assigned.
- Document daily camper activities in Camper Notes.
- Report any emergencies or problems to the Resident Camp Director or designee immediately, providing necessary documentation as required.
- Participate in all required staff meetings, training, & activities.
- Demonstrate and maintain knowledge and skill in all listed job functions.
- Professional engagement and interaction with staff and with campers’ families/caregivers.
- Direct care interaction with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Comply with the DDD Program Manual, The Arc Gloucester’s and Camp Sun ‘N Fun’s Policies and Procedures Manual and applicable state, local and federal regulations, including any COVID-19 vaccination mandates & policies.
- Must cooperate and participate in reviews, investigations, and inspections, including but not limited to the Agency, American Camp Association (ACA), DHS Licensing and DHS staff.
- Complete initial and ongoing required training.
Qualifications
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must possess a high school diploma/GED.
- At least one (1) year experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Proficient in basic computer, math, reading comprehension and verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintain active CPR/First Aide certification.
- Successfully pass initial and ongoing State/Federal Criminal Background checks, including Fingerprinting, CARI checks, Central Registry checks and drug screens.
- Camp experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to operate a computer, phone, and other relevant technology.
- Ability to talk, hear and communicate in person, over the phone and using other technologies.
- Physical duties, including but not limited to carrying, driving, general lifting (at least 50 lbs.), assisting with transferring and lifting of individuals, pushing and pulling (resistance of at least 25 lbs.), bending, cleaning, and climbing stairs.
