EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Oversees Camp Commerce guests, and enforces rules and safety standards
- Leads program activities, and assists participants in recreation activities and special programs
- Reports and resolves complaints, requests, safety conditions, and security issues
Instructs, Monitors, and Supervises
- Instructs, monitors, and supervises arts and crafts programs, team sports, games, and other recreation activities at Camp Commerce
- Organizes sports, hikes, and other exercise activities
- Maintains discipline at indoor and outdoor recreation facilities
- Instructs various arts, crafts, games, and sports explaining the rules and techniques for each activity
- Evaluates performance of participants in instructional programs and assists with skill improvements
- Provides youth with the opportunity to learn life skills and subject matter skills in a physically and emotionally safe setting
- Reports unsafe conditions, accidents and injuries
Supervises and Leads
- Supervises and leads children and youth of various ages in diversified recreational based programs
- Makes sure behavior is managed and issues are resolved
- Ensures that supplies, equipment, and facilities are in order
- Recommends any necessary repairs or supply needs to the supervisor
Provides Information and Assistance
- Provides information and assistance to visitors and guests
- Solves problems and customer service inquiries within scope of authority
Operates Transportation Vans
- Operates transportation vans in accordance with all traffic laws, regulations and procedures
- Maintains order among passengers, and handles volatile situations according to procedures
Daily Vehicle Inspection and Cleaning
- Performs daily vehicle inspection and cleaning prior to beginning service
- Completes and submits required written reports including inspection reports, incident reports, accident reports, and operational problem reports
- Identifies and reports vehicle problems requiring additional maintenance and repair
Maintains General Appearance of Camp Facilities
- Cleans areas in and around the facility
- Arranges equipment and performs other general maintenance duties as required
Special Requirements
- Required Licenses or Certifications: Class C with passenger endorsement, First Aid and CPR certification
- Must be available to work during camp operating hours including evening, weekend, and holidays
- May be required to work overtime
- Maintain a level of physical fitness to meet Department standards
- Requires occasional travel
- Must pass a background investigation

- The City shall match employee deferred compensation contribution in an amount not to exceed 5% of the employee's gross salary contribution per pay period
- Part-time employees are not eligible for CalPERS Retirement Benefits
