Camp Counselor
About the role
The YMCA of Central Texas is searching for passionate, energetic positive role models to join our Summer Camp team as Camp Counselors in Brazos Valley. This position will work our Holiday Camps including over Thanksgiving, winter break, spring break, and summer camp, with opportunities between camps for other programs.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of campers at all times through active supervision while meeting the individual needs of each child in their care.
- Guide the camper’s character development and facilitate friendship forging in their “Units”.
- Aid in the facilitation of a wide variety of camp activities.
- Model the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility at all times.
- Be an appropriate, positive role model for all campers.
Requirements
- An enthusiastic personality with the ability to inspire and motivate children to grow and develop.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Willingness to work as part of a team and to work outdoors.
- Ability to understand the needs of youth campers and to place these needs ahead of his/her own.
- At least 18 years or older with a high school degree or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a drug test/background check.

Pay
Pay Rate: $13.50-$15.00/hour
