Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides home based personal visits with each designated enrolled family on an assigned case load and involves parents in educational activities to enhance their role as the primary educator in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Encourages the formation and maintenance of strong families and parents’ ability to care for children in their own homes by educating and empowering parents to be the best parent they can be and that they are their child’s first and foremost teacher.
  • Instructs parents individually or in groups in behavior modification, physical development, language development, and conceptual learning exercises and activities.
  • Delivers targeted trainings to State of Alaska licensed Child Care Providers and KANA Approved Providers in various settings as assigned.
  • Conducts recruitment activities within the community to attract families to participate in the Cama’i Program.
  • Administers required developmental and health screenings with each family; encourages family to receive and advocates for appropriate services for each child, including health care, early intervention and special education services as appropriate.
  • Administers required family assessments, intake forms, and other forms as required by the program.
  • Arranges and facilitates group connections for families; obtains feedback from families regarding group activity ideas and informational topics to encourage family participation.
  • Supports parents in implementing positive discipline techniques, routines, sleep transitions, nutrition, family goals and information relating to developmentally appropriate practices with their own child/children and family.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining accurate program files on site. Enters all visit records in online data system.
  • Prepares and submits reports, monthly program narratives, and all other required paperwork as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years supervised work experience with young children and/or parents.
  • Basic knowledge of child development issues and knowledge of community resources for children and families preferred.
  • Must have valid Driver's License for the past three consecutive years with acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation to meet work schedule requirements.
