CALTRANS MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
About the role
The Maintenance Supervisor (Hazmat) is responsible for supervising a maintenance crew engaged in Emergency Response Incident Operations related to encampment removal and cleanups, removal of debris from illegal and unauthorized dumping, cleanup of freeway spills on traveled-way, roadsides, landscape and highway appurtenances, related maintenance activities, minor repairs and mitigation efforts associated with encampments.
Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge of current and applicable safe work practices and expectations
- Train and ensure compliance of maintenance staff with departmental and mandated safety and health standards, policies, procedures, and directives as stipulated by departmental guidelines and legal requirements including MPD1001-R1 and the Encampment Coordinators Reference Guide or their successors
- Ensure all crew staff receive and maintain the required training, certifications, and licenses required to perform encampment HazMat cleanups, related repairs, and site mitigations
- Work overtime, work irregular shifts/alternate work schedules including nights, holidays and weekends
- Respond to emergency situations and calls
- May be loaned to other cost centers
Requirements
- A valid, unrestricted, Class “C” Driver's License is required
- Valid and unrestricted Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with P (Passenger/Bus), H (Hazardous Materials), and N (Tank Vehicle) endorsements
- Possession of a qualified applicator certificate for pesticides issued by Cal-EPA is desired
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - Valid California Drivers License (CDL) - Possession of a valid and unrestricted Class A or Class B commercial driver’s license with P (Passenger/Bus), H (Hazardous Materials), and N (Tank Vehicle) endorsements and possession of a qualified applicator certificate for pesticides issued by Cal-EPA is desired - Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment - Applicants with foreign transcripts/degrees must provide a transcript/degree U.S. equivalency report evaluation that indicates the number of units and degree to which the foreign coursework is equivalent - Birthdates and social security numbers are redacted
