CALTRANS MAINTENANCE AREA SUPERINTENDENT

About the role

The incumbent provides general supervision over operations of all maintenance crews and activities within the assigned area of responsibility. Assigns work, gives direction to, and maintains discipline among subordinate crew supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Develops estimates for regular and special maintenance and minor improvement work, which includes extracting and evaluating data from MMS reports, as Major Maintenance Projects.
• Maintains the management and coordination of the Integrated Maintenance Management System (IMMS).
• Allocates maintenance resources within the area of responsibility to adequately respond to needs and maintain levels of service.
• Spot checks inventory reviews for accuracy and provides support during reviews.
• Ensures accuracy of data input into the Maintenance Management System for the area.
• Utilizes and balances priorities among available resources including regular staff, intermittent staff, overtime, service contracts, construction projects, operating expenses, rented and departmental equipment, and other Caltrans staff.

Requirements

• A valid California Drivers License (CDL).
• A valid California Drivers License (CDL).
• A Background Investigation must be cleared prior to hire.
• Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a state-owned or leased vehicle.
