CalPERS – Investment Officer I – Private Debt Investment Analyst

Position Summary

The Private Debt (PD) team at CalPERS is seeking an Investment Officer I (IO I) to assist in managing the CalPERS Private Debt and CLO portfolios.

About the role

The successful candidate will support the PD team in executing investment strategies, monitoring portfolio performance, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct due diligence on potential investments
• Prepare and analyze financial models for new and existing investments
• Monitor portfolio performance and make adjustments as necessary
• Collaborate with the PD team to develop and implement investment strategies
• Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in private debt or similar asset class
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Excel and Bloomberg terminal
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• Knowledge of private debt markets and instruments
• Experience with credit analysis and risk assessment
• Understanding of financial modeling and valuation techniques
