Call-Out: Designer, The Diary of Attica Lehane
About the role
leo&hyde are a Manchester-based musical theatre company seeking a set designer to join the creative team for the first public performance of The Diary Of Attica Lehane, a new musical and futuristic reflection on The Diary of Anne Frank, in collaboration with Israeli cellist Talia Erdal and Helen Milne Production. The production takes place in a tech-surveillance dystopia where dissidents hide in off-grid bunkers, and Attica records her diaries in VR while painting 3D worlds.
Responsibilities
- Work with the creative team, projection designer Sam Gee, and VR artist Kayleigh Eliza
- Create a simple but effective set and lighting design that provides an appropriate surface for projection mapping (the main visual feature)
- Source and/or build the sets you design
Requirements
- Set and lighting design experience
- Experience working with projection and knowledge of materials that work effectively for projection mapping
- Ability to create a simple sense of depth
- Comfortable sourcing and building sets
Location
As a Mancunian company and artists-in-residence at Enable US Sheffield, leo&hyde are especially interested in hearing from Northern designers. We welcome people of all backgrounds.
Schedule
- Performance: 31st May
- Tech in space: 25th, 26th, 30th May
Pay
- Fee: £1000
- Budget available: £800
- This is intended as the first performance of many, with larger budgets in future
