About the role

We are seeking a Calibration Technician II to perform calibrations, vendor assistance, and data/documentation onsite at our client pharmaceutical facilities in Norwood, MA and other nearby sites as needed. This is a field-service position with up to 50% travel, though at least 75% of the work is projected to be in the Boston metro area. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, qualifications, relocations, and calibrations of instruments such as electronics, temperature devices, pressure gauges, centrifuges, incubators, and balances in pharmaceutical manufacturing and laboratory environments. This is a full-time, hourly position.

Responsibilities

  • Complete calibrations, maintenance, qualifications, commissioning, and troubleshooting/repairs safely, timely, and accurately, following PCI and client-specific policies and proposals.
  • Understand client needs and requirements through effective communication and develop client relationships via excellent customer service.
  • Maintain a neat and professional PCI work area and project a professional image at all times.
  • Identify and relay potential new opportunities for PCI while at client sites or interacting with clients.
  • With minor supervision, complete calibrations, qualifications, and PMs with accurate and timely GxP documentation, adhering to PCI or client-specific policies and procedures.
  • Perform flow, conductivity, pH, mass, and dimensional calibrations with guidance.
  • Complete timesheets with correct labor code charges weekly and assist other PCI Associates in proper coding of time and expenses.
  • Handle and maintain PCI and client equipment, including testing and standards equipment.
  • Learn to troubleshoot and perform repairs, though the majority of work will remain scheduled calibrations and maintenance.
  • Identify and report safety issues at the work site, including educating peers on safety practices.
  • Build trust with internal and client personnel by consistently upholding PCI Values: Honesty, Integrity, Pride, Accountability, Teamwork, and Commitment.

Requirements

  • Two-year degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field, OR equivalent military training and two years of applicable (Metrology, Instrumentation, Calibration) experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Quality System/Pharmaceutical experience is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Ability to climb stairs, equipment (e.g., tanks), and perform moderate to heavy lifting.
  • Knowledge of electrical panels and electrical safety procedures.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work with little direction and make independent decisions within defined scope.

Skills

  • Traceability, substitution of standards, and test accuracy/uncertainty ratios.
  • Pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical instrumentation; manual and computer-based process control loops and systems.
  • Instrument, equipment, and loop calibrations in manufacturing, utilities, and laboratory environments.
  • Basic understanding and application of GMPs and Life Science Industry regulations.
  • Basic understanding of calibration concepts, including accuracy testing requirements.
  • Expanded knowledge of instrumentation and regulatory compliance, with ongoing training in new areas.
  • Reliable, confident, eager to learn, and enjoys working with people.

Pay

The typical estimated total compensation for this position is $72,000 - $86,000 per year.
