Position Summary

Calibration Technician is a role that requires either education in the electronics/calibration field or at least one (2-3) years of calibration experience. Calibration Technicians at this level typically calibrate low-end process instrumentation in up to three disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Dimensional, or Pressure). Proficiency and expertise are determined in accordance with Transcat’s technician skills progression matrix.

Primary Objectives

  • Learn fundamental calibration skills and techniques
  • Develop skills necessary to perform calibrations independently
  • Advance to Calibration Technician II position, which includes working knowledge and competency in at least four disciplines and expert competency in one discipline
  • Deliver on Transcat’s Quality Policy (QAC-F01-001)

Responsibilities

  • Work with other technicians within the lab to learn calibration fundamentals, including measurement, temperature, electronics, etc.
  • Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques
  • Maintain calibration standards
  • Develop working knowledge and competency in at least three disciplines (dimensional, electrical, torque, temperature, pressure, etc.)
  • Perform calibration work within a laboratory setting and/or while supervised at a customer on-site
  • Fulfill duties safely under working conditions, in keeping with Company requirements and standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Travel requirement: 25-50% of work schedule

Requirements

  • Successful completion of assigned training materials through on-the-job training, online content, LMS, and classroom-led instruction
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated learner with the ability to acquire new skills related to calibration and calibration processes
  • Ability to take direction and learn from feedback
  • Ability to communicate well with supervisor, solve problems effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team
  • 3+ years driving experience with a valid driver’s license and acceptable driver history

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate’s degree from college or technical school; or at least one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred:

  • Previous experience or training in electronics or machining
  • Basic mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and statistics
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office computer software including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics
