About the role

In this role, you will support calibration activities at the Grand Rapids, MI site while contributing to global metrology practices across Medtronic, with a strong focus on quality and compliance.

This position is in-person, working a minimum of 5 days a week onsite to foster professional growth and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calibrations and measurements traceable to NIST and the International System of Units (SI) using appropriately maintained reference standards.
  • Calibrate test, inspection, and measurement equipment ranging from general-purpose physical and dimensional tools to custom-built manufacturing equipment, including disciplines such as Mass, Temperature, Humidity, Vacuum, Length, Optics, Conductivity, Pressure, Dimensional Metrology, Force, Torque, and Flow.
  • Create and modify calibration procedures using manufacturer’s manuals, laboratory methods, system requirements, or other approved documentation.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers to schedule and manage calibration services, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
  • Create and maintain purchase orders for outsourced calibration activities and monitor vendor performance.
  • Interact with equipment-owning engineers and technicians to schedule calibration activities, provide guidance on test and measurement equipment selection, and ensure adherence to documented procedures.
  • Document calibration results in the calibration tracking database using validated templates or test point grids; issue Out of Tolerance (OOT) or Non-conformance (NC) reports as needed.
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, adjust, and repair test and measurement equipment for new and existing projects.
  • Provide in-lab and on-site calibration support for equipment that is too sensitive to move or too large to relocate.
  • Work overtime when necessary to support high-priority requests or meet project goals.

  • No minimum education requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with calibration standards and regulations in the Medical Device Industry, such as ISO 13485:2016, ISO 17025, and FDA 21 CFR 820.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).

Work Authorization

U.S. work authorization is required for this role at the time of hire and for the duration of employment. Medtronic offers work authorization sponsorship (H-1B, TN, J, etc.) exclusively for Principal-level roles and above.

Pay

Salary ranges for U.S. locations (excluding Puerto Rico): $44,000.00 - $66,000.00 USD. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. This position is eligible for the Operations Incentive Plan (OIP), a short-term incentive program.
