Essential Duties
- Supervise and lead CAL Inspectors in performing comprehensive interior and exterior vehicle inspections.
- Ensure inspections are conducted in accordance with manufacturer standards, CAL checklists, and current technical bulletins.
- Review and verify inspection reports, CAL check sheets, and related documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Oversee inspection of interior components including fit, finish, trim, electrical systems, and accessory functionality.
- Oversee exterior inspections for body damage, paint defects, alignment issues, and overall vehicle condition.
- Oversee the installation and operation of lights, accessories, and visible mechanical components.
- Monitor paintwork inspections to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Evaluate severity and classification of defects and provide final review when required.
- Serve as primary point of contact for manufacturer representatives regarding inspection findings and compliance matters.
- Cook with operations, detailing, and other departments to track, report, and resolve identified issues.
- Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to inspection team members.
- Monitor workflow, staffing needs, and daily productivity to ensure operational efficiency.
- Promote and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
- Aid in process improvements and implementation of updated inspection standards.
Shift
Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., with possible overtime and/or weekend work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Badge).
- Experience operating automatic and straight (manual) shift vehicles.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to review and validate inspection findings.
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in automotive inspection, quality control, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior vehicle inspection, quality control, or automotive industry experience.
- Previous supervisory or team lead experience.
- General knowledge of automobile components and vehicle systems.
- Strong ability to make sound judgment calls regarding severity and classification of defects.
- Ability to interpret manufacturer standards and technical documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear documentation and team guidance.
- Ability to organize workflow and manage multiple priorities.
Physical Working Attributes
- Work in confined spaces.
- Work at heights of approximately 15 feet.
- Lift, push, and/or pull up to 20 lbs.
- Extended periods of standing, kneeling, and bending.
- Exposure to outdoor elements including heat, cold, rain, insects, and other environmental conditions.
