About the role

This position is responsible for the efficient operation of, as well as any adjustments made to, the Bright Coop Dumper throughout the production day.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all birds are removed from cages according to Animal Welfare Standards
• Ensure the flow of birds to the CAS is consistent and adjusted as needed and/or directed
• Wash cages
• Remove DOAs from hatch area
• Other duties as assigned, including Live Hanging as needed

Requirements

• Ability to operate equipment safely and effectively
• Must adhere to the CAS Department Animal Welfare Standards and practices
• Must meet production speed requirements
• Must only allow minimal downtime per day
• Must be able to work independently and make decisions
• Willingness to learn new ideas
• Willingness to assist in other areas of production and work overtime as required
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Must be able to communicate effectively

Physical Requirements

• Rarely (0-1 hrs.): kneel, crawl, balance, lift/carry (up to 45 lbs.), push/pull (up to 100 lbs.), reach above shoulder height
• Frequently (3-6 hrs.): lift/carry (up to 10 lbs.), bend/stoop, twist/turn, squat, crouch, reaching at shoulder height or slightly above at a rate of 23-25 birds per minute if hanging
• Continuously (6-8 hrs.): climb or work at protected heights (steps to work area), stand/walk, simple/firm grasping, fine manipulation/operating controls, work around moving machinery, exposed to marked changes in temperature, around and amongst poultry dust and odor as well as animal blood, talk and hear, use 20/20 vision with or without corrective lenses
