About the role

The Cage Cashier is responsible for assisting guests with transactions and balancing various bank drawers within the Cage Department while maintaining accuracy throughout all phases of the balancing process. This position works under immediate supervision, relying on limited experience, instructions, pre-established guidelines, and good judgment. The Cage Cashier performs duties under strict policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Support and uphold Valley View Casino & Hotel’s Standards of Excellence as outlined in the Team Member Guide to Success.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times, resolving guest complaints and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Greet guests in a courteous and caring manner using personalized service.
  • Receive cash and tickets and make appropriate change for guests.
  • Adhere to established cash control policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Participate as a team member to ensure a smoothly and efficiently run cage operation.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of company facilities and special events to advise guests and fellow team members.
  • Conduct all responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Maintain a consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Adhere to performance standards, company policies, and procedures as they relate to the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One year of cash handling experience.
  • Ability to speak and understand the English language.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, guidelines, operating and maintenance instructions, and policies and procedure manuals in English.
  • Apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, referring to established guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Define problems involving several concrete variables, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to carry out primary duties.
  • Work with mathematical concepts and apply them to practical situations (fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions).
  • Use good judgment when providing information to guests and maintain positive guest relations.
  • Apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
  • Successfully pass applicable auditions or skill testing and a drug screening test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a casino/gaming environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Clear vision (close, distant, peripheral, and depth perception) for navigating office and casino environments, reading reports and policies, and operating data processing equipment.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • May be required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Schedule

The Casino is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week; therefore, you must be flexible to work any and all shifts.

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke, moving mechanical parts, risk of radiation from computers, and fumes or airborne particles.
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • Occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions and wet and/or humid conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
