About the role

The General Cafeteria Worker works under the supervision of the Food Service Director in the Division of Operations and reports to the kitchen manager or team leader. This is a part-time academic calendar position, 4 hours per day, Monday through Friday, at Litchfield Center School.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food, which may involve basic cooking
• Serve food to students
• Clean kitchen equipment and put away stock/deliveries
• Operate a point-of-sale system
• Follow all sanitation and health codes governing food preparation and personal appearance
• Work with hot ovens, sharp tools, slippery floors, and perform some heavy lifting
• Apply general knowledge of food and nutrition
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous food service or catering experience
• Ability to operate and care for institutional/industrial equipment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Detail-oriented with ability to keep accurate records as directed
• Good judgment and ability to work independently and as a team
• Regular and consistent attendance

Physical Requirements

• Move and lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Move throughout the school kitchen to prepare food and perform other duties
• Ability to push and pull carts
