- Completion of the 8th grade, with functional skills in reading, writing, and mathematics.
Job Summary
Performs a variety of routine kitchen tasks essential to the operation of serving meals in a school cafeteria.Terms of Employment
Salary, benefits and work year to be established by the Cafeteria Workers Contract.Responsibilities
- Check with Group Leader to see what needs to be done for the day’s lunch.
- Prepare work area (get out needed equipment, utensils, food, etc.).
- Aid in portioning and preparing the current day’s menu.
- Help prepare any and all food for next day’s use such as cookie dough, chicken, etc.
- Perform any job related task that Group Leader, Director or Assistant Director asks of you.
- Clean up as you go.
- Oversee student workers.
- Instruct them in serving the proper portions of all food items.
- Clean and sanitize serving areas.
- Pitch in and clean soiled pots, pans, shelves, etc., on an ongoing basis.
- Wrap and properly store all leftovers.
- Make sure all canned food is removed from the can and put in the proper containers.
- Always check with the Group Leader before leaving and signing the time sheet.
Skills
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical functions.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects.
