About the role

Immediate need for Cafeteria Helper coverage due to a staff absence. The duration of the assignment is unknown at this time. Assignment is available immediately.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of food in a quick and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to read recipes and cook food in large quantities.
  • Maintain the supply of foods offered and replenish regularly during meal service periods.
  • Assist in the daily clean-up of the kitchen and service areas, including washing trays, utensils, and equipment used that day, including hot carts and cold carts.
  • Perform major cleaning of refrigerators and storerooms at regularly scheduled intervals as designated by the supervisor.
  • Assume responsibility for proper storage and disposal of unused foods.
  • Complete monthly inventory and/or tally sheets.
  • Organize and store supplies properly.
  • Be able to take responsibility of kitchen when supervisor is absent as designated.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and orderly environment in the cafeteria.
  • Knowledge of all kitchen equipment set-up and break-down procedures.
  • Dispense beverages, complete beverage inventories, and submit beverage orders as required.
  • Be able to change work assignment from school to school when so designated by the supervisor.
  • Accurately count daily receipts, prepare proper documentation, and deliver as required.
  • Complete proper closing procedures.
  • Work cooperatively with all cafeteria helpers and other employees.
  • Always enter walk-in coolers and freezers with a co-worker.
  • Always lift items over 50 lbs with the assistance of a co-worker.

Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrates aptitude and attitude for successful performance of the responsibilities and goals.
  • Ability to safely and comfortably lift and hold up to 50 lbs with assistance of a co-worker.
  • Meets all mandated health requirements.
  • Documentation of a clear criminal record.
  • Has a current ServSafe certification.

Schedule

Hours: 7:00 a.m.–12:45 p.m. (5.25 hours/day)

Pay

Current OAPSE contractual rate for current District OAPSE employees; $15.00/hour substitute rate for all other substitutes.
