CAFETERIA CASHIER

About the Role

UAB Medical West is seeking a customer-focused Cafeteria Cashier to join our Food & Nutrition Services team. The Cafeteria Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service, processing transactions accurately, maintaining a clean work area, and supporting daily cafeteria operations.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers in a courteous and professional manner.
• Accurately process cash, credit card, and electronic transactions.
• Operate cash register and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
• Balance cash drawer and complete end-of-shift reconciliation.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of cashier and dining areas.
• Restock supplies and assist with cafeteria operations as needed.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection-control guidelines.
• Comply with all organizational policies and procedures.

Skills

• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally and courteously with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Strong cash-handling and basic mathematical skills, with the ability to accurately process transactions using a cash register or point-of-sale system.
• Demonstrated attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to follow established policies, procedures, and food safety standards.
• Basic computer skills and previous cashier or food service experience is preferred.
